Get Involved

No stick? No problem.

Almost everyone playing lacrosse in South Africa today picked up a stick for the first time as an adult or teenager. One of our own Board members, Phinius Sebatsane, was one of the first 30 campers at that very first camp in Vaalwater in 2007. The game is young here — which means every role is open, and every person counts.

Five Ways In

Find your role

01

Play

Join a clinic, a pick-up session, or a development squad. Speed, fitness, and hand-eye skills from any sport transfer beautifully — rugby, hockey, netball, and football players adapt fast.

02

Coach

Teachers, sports coaches, and former players: we'll train you. World Lacrosse coaching resources plus SALA support get you running sessions at your school or club quickly.

03

Officiate

Every game needs officials, and the pathway to refereeing international lacrosse in Africa is wide open. Learn the rules, get certified, and grow with the game.

04

Volunteer

Events, logistics, media, admin, fundraising — a national federation runs on committed people. Give the hours you have; the game gives back.

Bring It to Your School

Lacrosse is a natural fit for schools: low cost of entry, fast to learn, and thrilling to play. We help schools run taster sessions and build programmes from zero.

Back the game at the ground floor

For us, lacrosse has always been the vehicle, not the destination — a way to bring opportunity to communities that don't always get it. Partnering with SALA means backing that mission at the exact moment it has the furthest to travel: lacrosse returns to the Olympic Games at LA28, and South Africa hosts its first continental championships in December 2026.

We're a young federation, and we're building our partner programme in the open — with a clear account of where support goes and the difference it makes. If you back us early, you back a story from the ground up.
